Saturday is opening day at the venerable amusement park in West Mifflin, evoking all sorts of 'Burgh-happy memories, as well as the anticipation of a new, high-tech ride, "Ghostwood Estate." Holiday World ready to open with carousel Holiday World opens its 62nd season at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the addition of two new rides, one of them an old-fashioned carousel in the 4th of July section. “Our guests have implored us for years to add a carousel,” said Will Koch, president of the Santa Claus, Ind., theme park, noting the Star Spangled Carousel will have a mixture of 30 horse and other colorful animals, plus two chariots. Thieves take Zoomers' roller coaster tracks for a ride But on Wednesday, two men took the roller coaster itself for a ride. Jason Duby, 33, and Randy Squire, 29, both of Lehigh Acres, are accused of stealing $10,000 worth of roller coaster tracks from Zoomers Amusement Park in south Fort Myers, the Lee County sheriff's office reports. Lakeside Amusement Park Celebrates 100 Years Lakeside Amusement Park, one of the oldest amusement parks in the nation, and the oldest in Colorado in its original location, invites the public and Mayor John Hickenlooper to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Dade County: Six Flags lowers prices; Lake Winnie officials expect strong summer Dade County resident Chase Herston, 13, said he would go to Six Flags Over Georgia every day if he could. That might not be feasible, but it would cost less this summer than it would have any previous year back to 2000. “We are lowering the main gate admission prices by $10,” said Hela Sheth, spokeswoman for Six Flags. “We wanted to do so because of the tough economy. Six Flags Announces Total Summer Concert Lineup and Launches New Sunday Rocks! Series Six Flags, Inc. (NYSE: SIX - News) released today the lineup for its 2008 concert series, headlining some of the hottest popular music acts in the industry at Six Flags parks around the country. Covering a variety of music genres including Pop, R&B, Country, Latin and Christian -- Six Flags parks will present recording industry favorites including: Waterpark News Great Wolf Resorts gets $63.9 million loan for Concord site MADISON, Wis. — Great Wolf Resorts, which bills itself as "North America's leading family of indoor waterpark resorts," announced Thursday it has closed on a $63.9-million construction loan to pay part of the costs of its new resort under construction in Concord. Construction on the Concord resort began last October on Weddington Road near Speedway Boulevard. The result is scheduled to open next spring. Aquarium/Zoo News Merlin snaps up London Aquarium The entertainment group which runs the London Eye, Alton Towers and Madame Tussauds has added the London Aquarium to its portfolio. Dorset-based Merlin Entertainments has bought the sea life centre in the South Bank's County Hall from its Japanese owners.
