DUBAILAND finalizes design and conceptual master plan of Dhs3.3bn Marvel Superheroes Theme Park DUBAILAND, a member of Tatweer, today announced the finalization of the design and conceptual master plan for the world’s first ever Marvel Superheroes theme park that will be developed with investments of Dhs3.3bn ($900m) as a key anchor project at the world’s largest leisure, tourism and entertainment destination.

Universal Studios Forges Exclusive, Long Term Marketing and Financial Services Partnership With GE Money and American Express   Worldwide media and entertainment company Universal Studios has entered into a multi-year marketing and financial services alliance with GE Money, the consumer lending unit of General Electric Company NYSE: GE, and American Express NYSE: AXP. By joining forces, American Express becomes the official payment of choice at Universal Studios Theme Parks Resorts; GE Money becomes the Parks' official financial services sponsor; and the companies launch the new Universal American Express(R) Card issued by GE Money. Stephanie Sperber, executive vice president, Universal Studios Partnerships made the announcement today.

Local Travel Could Prove Sweet For Hershey On our drive through Pennsylvania, we stopped at 101-year-old Hershey Park. Yes, that Hershey! They have an amusement park. It's in the town named for the company, and it attracted 2.7 million visitors last year.

Anti-Bible Park petition ups ante County Commission might need two-thirds vote to pass rezoning  A petition could make it much harder for the developers of Bible Park USA to get enough votes for approval. The petition, signed by landowners of property surrounding the 282 acres where developers hope to build the Bible theme park, has been submitted to the Rutherford County Planning Department. If validated, that petition would require that a proposed rezoning of the land be approved by two-thirds of 21 Rutherford County commissioners rather than by a simple majority.

Firefall thrill ride set to open at California’s Great America after delay Maintenance crews gave the all-clear for the Firefall thrill ride to debut at California’s Great America on Saturday, May 17, 2008, after the grand opening was postponed three weeks while the Santa Clara amusement park awaited parts from overseas.

Six Flags Inc. is the second-largest theme park operator on the planet, behind only the Walt Disney Co., hosting some 25 million visitors in 20 parks throughout North America. Sun Splash’s new speed slides offer thrill  FL  A month before the peak of its season, Sun Splash Family Waterpark gave park-goers a new thrill with its most extreme ride ever. A highly anticipated, 53-foot-high triple slide, which supporters said could transform Sun Splash from a local amusement park to a regional destination, hosted its first riders midway through Wednesday and began its first full day of service Thursday.

Zoo launches $10M campaign; Gifts to fund improvements before tax vote  The Detroit Zoological Society isn't sitting idle while it waits for voters to weigh in on a county tax that would support the cultural attraction's annual operation. The nonprofit last month officially launched a $10 million campaign to fund capital improvements at the zoo and strengthen its ability to generate new sources of revenue.

2 koalas coming to Indianapolis Zoo  INDIANAPOLIS - A new Indianapolis Zoo exhibit will feature two male koalas named Bamba and Coombah. The Queensland koalas on loan from the San Diego Zoo are scheduled to be on display in Indianapolis from Memorial Day weekend through Sept. 1.

Baby zoo cats in Warren? Maybe  A “Do Not Disturb” sign might be going up on more than 500 acres that the Cincinnati Zoo owns in Warren County. Hush: small, extremely rare cats getting down to business. That’s the idea zoo officials have been shopping to Warren County planners in the past month.

Japan's Sega Sammy swings into loss as video game unit struggles  Japan's Sega Sammy Holdings Inc. said on Tuesday it tumbled into a net loss in the fiscal year ended March as its video game publishing unit, Sega, struggled both in the game arcade and video game businesses.
