Don't Sell Disney  I don't get it. Dramatically slashing his price target from $36 to $26, Citi analyst Jason Bazinet downgraded shares of Disney (NYSE: DIS) to "sell" this morning, His reasons for concern are the ones you'd expect. "As energy costs remain stubbornly high, the housing market falters, and equity values pull back, we think it's only natural for consumer spending to slow," Bazinet writes.

Disney fires back after warning from analyst over prospects for 2008 The company addresses concerns about the financial prospects of theme parks and resorts for the year.  A stock analyst's concerns about Walt Disney Co.'s theme-park prospects in 2008 and a "sell" recommendation for Disney stock prompted the company's chief financial officer to respond Tuesday, defending the performance of the company's parks-and-resorts business.

Mall of America's Nickelodeon park to open in March  Nickelodeon Universe, the rebranded indoor amusement park at the Mall of America, will officially open March 15. Construction is underway on several new Nickelodeon-themed rides that will be added to the seven-acre theme park, formerly known as Camp Snoopy.

Theme park rides to be demolished   Bulldozers have moved in to demolish the remaining rides at a derelict Derbyshire theme park. The county council said some of the attractions such as the Runaway Mine Train at the American Adventure near Shipley posed a health and safety risk.

New Amusement: Six Flags Launches Media Network  SIX FLAGS THEME PARKS IS launching an ambitious new place-based media operation, Six Flags Media Networks, offering advertisers an array of channels for reaching theme park visitors. There are nine "Six Flags" media channels in all: Television, Radio, Print, Outdoor, Outdoor Spectacular, Attraction Integration, Experiential Marketing, and Online. The theme park company boasts that these complementary channels will allow advertisers to surround consumers with ad messages.

The Eye to come down in a blink  Australia  SLOWLY a whopping 350 tonnes of steel will come down at Sea World over the next 10 days. Yesterday, work began on dismantling The Eye. The majority of work will be conducted during the next eight to 10 nights.

Kings Island Entertainer Auditions February 16-17 Calling All Performers! - Park looking for singers, dancers, musicians, characters and more for 2008 season KINGS ISLAND, Ohio – Kings Island will host auditions in search of experienced contemporary country singers and trained, talented and versatile dancers, characters, character cohorts, musicians, technicians and costumers for the 2008 entertainment season at the park.

Hard Rock Park is seeking employees  Hard Rock Park is holding auditions and a job fair this weekend. Auditions will be on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University’s Edwards Arts & Humanities Building.

Aquarium Staff Girds For Shark Encounter Tricky transfer on tap at Mohegan Sun's former OdySea store  This morning, employees from the Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration will descend into a tank in the closed OdySea store at the Mohegan Sun Casino and wrestle three black-tip sharks into slings so they can be transported to the aquarium.

No crime found in tiger case CASE REMAINS OPEN, BUT POLICE SUSPEND INVESTIGATION INTO MAULING AT S.F. ZOO  Thirty-five days after declaring the San Francisco Zoo a crime scene, police on Tuesday suspended their investigation of the Christmas Day tiger mauling that left a 17-year-old San Jose resident dead and two friends injured.

PHOENIX ZOO DEBUTS MOUNTAIN LION CUBS The Phoenix Zoo is pleased to announce the addition of two five month-old female mountain lion cubs to their animal family. The cubs were brought to the Zoo by South Dakota Wildlife Division of Game, Fish and Parks after the cubs were found orphaned in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

In announcing the Zoo’s 2008 “Green Resolutions” today, Zoo Director Steve Taylor said he is calling on his entire staff to do even more to recycle, save energy and protect the environment.

Museum due to open in August 2008.

“Holiday Express” steam locomotives still looking for a home  “The Southern Pacific 4449, and other working steam engines here, don’t have a permanent home,” stated Jonathan Kromer, Director of the Holiday Express program for the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation (ORHF). “The Holiday Express is the primary fundraising activity of the ORHF to further its mission.”
