Amusement/Theme Park News Six Flags considers selling more parks, eying big budget cuts The financial roller coaster ride for Fiesta Texas' parent company Six Flags Inc. has taken another dramatic turn. Amid speculation from some industry observers that the deeply indebted Six Flags could be headed for bankruptcy, company executives have filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission a plan that calls for huge spending cuts and the possible sale of more parks. Disney shares cut to sell by Citigroup on theme park weakness NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - With the prospect of slowing consumer spending in 2008, traffic at Walt Disney Co.''s theme parks may weaken, a trend that could take several quarters to reverse, Citigroup analysts said in downgrading Disney shares to sell Tuesday. Epcot's Spaceship Earth to reopen Spaceship Earth, one of the best known attractions at Walt Disney World's Epcot theme park near Orlando, will officially resume operations in February, Disney said in a statement issued Monday.

the Greater Southington Chamber of Commerce. Holiday World to Begin Auditions Holiday World this month will begin holding auditions for its 2008 cast of entertainers. Auditions will be held in Oakland City, Bloomington, Muncie, Santa Claus and Evansville, as well as locations in Pennsylvania and Kentucky. The park plans to offer at least four shows this year. Klondike Kavern’s Gold Mine Mountain was removed and in its place the resort has built Bonanza Bluff, a new play structure that includes 50 play and spray features on 12 different platforms, a 750-gallon tipping bucket, a 14 foot body slide and a 4-foot side-by-side children’s slide. Aquarium/Zoo News $1 Million gift names aquarium exhibit PENSACOLA - The University of West Florida has announced that the Lamar, Switzer and Reilly families have donated $1 million to name the Ocean Aquarium Exhibit at the Vice Admiral John H. Fetterman State of Florida Maritime Museum and Research Center. The aquarium will be named the Charles W. Lamar Sr. Ocean Aquarium. The first call came in at 8:53 p.m. concerning a fight among three teenage girls at the pizza parlor. A Genesee County Sheriff's paramedic and state troopers quickly got the fight under control, and canceled other officers headed that way to back them up. Other News Landry's boss makes bid to buy chain in $1.3 billion deal HOUSTON — Landry's Restaurants boss Tilman Fertitta has proposed a $1.3 billion deal to take the national restaurant, hotel and casino company private. Fertitta already owns 39 percent of the company he runs as chairman, president and chief executive. He wants to buy the rest at $23.50 a share.
