Spanish firm buys Sea Life Park Hawaii The 200 employees are expected to keep their jobs under the new ownership  Parques Reunidos Group of Madrid, Spain, has acquired Sea Life Park on the Waimanalo coast. The sale of the 22-acre amusement park by Dolphin Discovery of Cancun, Mexico, closed Wednesday. The approximately 200 employees of Sea Life Park were informed of the acquisition yesterday afternoon.

Grayling theme park dream remains alive  Plans for a massive amusement park complex in Grayling are still alive, nearly two years after the Michigan Department of Natural Resources signed a letter of intent to sell 1,700 acres to a Rochester developer. The ambitions of Axiom Entertainment for "Main Street America" are almost too good to be true.

Amusement Park Set to Open  Knoebels amusement resort is gearing up for another season. The park opens this weekend and could very well find itself catering to thrill-seekers staying closer to home because of high gas prices. If you plan to travel far this summer, it is likely going to cost you more than ever before to fill your gas-tank. So folks at Knoebels are preparing for the summer season, one which could see vacationers looking for a more local get-away.

Busch Gardens wins honor for 18th time  The Busch Gardens theme park in the Williamsburg area has been chosen as the nation's "most beautiful" park by the National Amusement Park Historical Association.

Snag could doom Eloy rock ’n roll park plans  Plans to build a rock ’n’ roll theme park in Eloy hit a snag Thursday, one that could prove terminal. Several legislators from both parties objected to the state letting the developers set up their own special entertainment district, allowing the developers to issue tax-free bonds. Concerns raised ranged from questions of taxpayer liability if something goes wrong to a suggestion this kind of government-private arrangement amounted to “fascism.”

Hard Rock Park attracts mix of musical performers  Hard Rock Park has added a little sunshine to its concert lineup. KC and the Sunshine Band will join the ranks of park headliners, which include The Eagles, The Moody Blues and George Clinton, with a show Aug. 30.

Simpsons Ride spoilers: Universal Studios Florida ride opens Universal Studios Florida allowed the first visitors on the new $40-million Simpsons Ride this week during “technical rehearsals” in advance of the official opening May 15, 2008. An identical Simpsons Ride debuts at Universal Studios Hollywood on May 17.

Golf joins Playland list  Canada  Putt-putt enthusiasts looking for a sophisticated experience should head to Playland at the PNE to test their strokes on a new set of links. Amusement park officials expect Pacific Adventure Golf, an 18-hole miniature replica of a professional golf course to win over golfers used to shooting through typical obstacles such as windmills and Ferris wheels.

Castaway Cove plans for 'mega sidewinder'   Officials of Castaway Cove Waterpark announced Wednesday that a new attraction is being constructed and is targeted to be in operation the first week of June. While the attraction is yet unnamed, it is a “mega sidewinder,” said park general partner Louis Wilson in making the announcement.

Water park names media consultant MANAMA: The Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park has appointed Memac Ogilvy Bahrain as its public relations consultants. "We approached Memac Ogilvy as the company has a good profile in the market place working with other leading Bahrain companies," said Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park general manager Paul Blunt.

Summer waterland ready for its close-up Park's seasonal grand opening is Saturday  After a long winter, the staff at Gulf Islands Waterpark was busy with final touches - dabbing paint on waterslides, blowing up inner tubes, and setting out lounge chairs Thursday in preparation for the park's seasonal grand opening day this Saturday. Operations Vice President Glenn Haggerty says he expects more visitors to the park this year than last - despite, or rather because of, the economic crunch many families are feeling.

Kangaroos keep Georgia couple hopping  Roger and Debbie Nelson have always loved animals, especially Kangaroos.  "I've always a very special feeling for kangaroos." says Debbie. "Unfortunately, they are suffering in the wild due to a lot of legal and illegal hunting that's allowed in Australia."

DALLAS ZOO  Nintendo offers sneak peek of Wii game at Dallas Zoo event Matthew and Steven Williams may only be 14 years old, but they were behind the steering wheel Thursday, crashing into cars, soaring off ramps and getting hit by lightning. We can all be thankful that they were just sitting in chairs, playing a video game.
